Amazon’s Alexa is constantly listening to you. Obviously this is so it can hear and respond to any commands that you give it, but if you’ve ever read George Orwell’s 1984 and feel you’d rather not have big brother
watching listening to you all the time, the Alexagate might be the gadget for you.
The Alexagate is an ultrasonic device that fits over the top of Amazon’s Alexa speakers, emitting ultrasonic frequencies so Alex can’t hear your conversations. The device itself is unobtrusive as the frequencies emitted are outside the range of human hearing. This retains the convenience of a smart speaker but with the addition of extra privacy.
This may seem to be defeating the purpose of having a smart speaker in the first place, but it is easily disarmed by tapping three times on the top of the device when you want to use it. If you don’t want one of the largest companies in the world listening to your every word, check it out below.
