Nissan describe their all-new Ariya as a “100 percent electric crossover for a new era”, promising to bring “powerful performance and capabilities of zero-emission vehicles to the heart of the electric vehicle market”
Boasting up to 300 miles per charge, the Ariya’s all-electric drivetrain will come in a choice of configurations, including two-wheel drive and a new “e-4ORCE” all-wheel drive versions. Nissan claim this twin-motor system offers “Sports car-level power” with “assured handling”
Offering a “lounge-like” interior, Nissan’s designers took advantage of the flat floor allowed by an EV platform, and used compact climate control components, and thinner profile “Zero Gravity” seats to boost interior space.
No electric vehicle would be complete these days without a suite of electronic gadgets and driver aids, and the Ariya is no exception. The e-Pedal system even allows the car to be started, accelerated and decelerated all from the one pedal! Driver-assist technology includes:
- ProPILOT Assist 2.0 advanced driver assistance system that uses driver attention monitoring to enable hands-off single-lane highway operation
- Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
- Rear Automatic Braking
- Lane Departure Warning
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert and High Beam Assist
The Ariya also features Nissan’s Intelligent Around View Monitor, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, as well as “natural-speech” voice control of car settings, with Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ standard for smartphone integration, with Amazon’s Alexa on-hand for organisation duties!
The Nissan Ariya is set to go on sale in U.S. and Canada in 2021 with a starting price of around $40,000.
